The ATP Challenger circuit returns to the Canary Islands this month and the Abama Tennis Academy will be at the center of the action. From January 15th to 22nd we’ll host an ATP Challenger 100, followed shortly thereafter by two ATP Challenger 75s: one between January 29th and February 5th and another from February 5th to 12th. Huge tennis talents, trainers, tech teams and media will flock to the resort to enjoy our professional tennis facilities as well as the 5-star hotels and excellent leisure and dining options that are part of the Abama experience.  The events will once again be organized by the incredible MEF Tennis Events, and we are expecting stars like Radu Albot (Moldovia), Francisco Passaro (Italy), and Fernando Verdasco (Spain). Tennis has been a growing presence at Abama over the past months, with one of the highlights being a visit from World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz. While enjoying his holiday at the resort he also helped us inaugurate the new event center at our recently opened La Plaza. His press conference, attended by hundreds of journalists, was the first of what we hope will be many more interesting events hosted at La Plaza, the resort’s most ambitious and long-awaited architectural project. Throughout 2023, under the leadership of the Director of Real Estate, Felix Ortiz Doncel, La Plaza will become the center of social life at Abama Resort as a leisure center and meeting point for owners and guests. In the upcoming phases of the project, we will see La Plaza become a stronghold of wellness facilities, commerce and dining, as well as connecting the residential and hotel communities of Los Jardines de Abama Suites and Las Villas del Tenis. Positioned as Branded Residences, these apartments and villas will shine in 2023 thanks to their potential as tourist accommodations with extraordinary amenities. These properties, built under Abama’s renowned standards for excellence, are attractive opportunities both for real estate investors and for those looking to experience the best of the Canary Islands. These are just a few bits of news to start off the year, but there’s much more to come this year, with surprises and events related to Abama Golf, Melvin by Martín Berasategui, new dining options, Wellness programs, and our Abama Solidaria campaigns. We can’t wait for you to join us. ##### Published in category [News](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/tag/news) ##### Share this post - [facebook](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/2023-promises-an-intense-social-and-sporting-year-at-abama) - [google-plus](https://plus.google.com/share?url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/2023-promises-an-intense-social-and-sporting-year-at-abama) - [twitter](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/2023-promises-an-intense-social-and-sporting-year-at-abama&text=2023%20promises%20an%20intense%20social%20and%20sporting%20year%20at%20Abama) - [linkedin2](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/2023-promises-an-intense-social-and-sporting-year-at-abama) ### Recent posts [![Build a private villa in the Canary Islands’ premier resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/buy-a-plot-of-land-canary-islands%202.jpg?width=638&name=buy-a-plot-of-land-canary-islands%202.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/build-a-private-villa-in-the-canary-islands-premier-resort?hsLang=en) Posted 06/07/2026 [Build a private villa in the Canary Islands’ premier resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/build-a-private-villa-in-the-canary-islands-premier-resort?hsLang=en) [![Abama awards nominations 2026](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Abama%20Nominations%202025-1.jpg?width=638&name=Abama%20Nominations%202025-1.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-award-nominations-2026?hsLang=en) Posted 30/06/2026 [Abama Resort Award Nominations 2026](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-award-nominations-2026?hsLang=en) [![enjoy the night sky from your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/see%20astronomical%20phenomena%20this%20summer%20from%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg?width=638&name=see%20astronomical%20phenomena%20this%20summer%20from%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/this-summer-enjoy-the-night-sky-from-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 25/06/2026 [This summer, enjoy the night sky from your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/this-summer-enjoy-the-night-sky-from-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) [![Las unit in Las Atalayas villas Abama Resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/last%20unit%20in%20Las%20Atalayas%20Abama%20Resort.jpg?width=638&name=last%20unit%20in%20Las%20Atalayas%20Abama%20Resort.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/last-unit-in-las-atalayas-buy-a-luxury-villa-in-tenerife?hsLang=en) Posted 16/06/2026 [Last Unit in Las Atalayas: Buy a Luxury Villa in Tenerife](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/last-unit-in-las-atalayas-buy-a-luxury-villa-in-tenerife?hsLang=en) [![Festivals and summer celebrations near your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/romerias%20and%20festivals%20near%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg?width=638&name=romerias%20and%20festivals%20near%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/festivals-and-summer-celebrations-near-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 09/06/2026 [Festivals and summer celebrations near your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/festivals-and-summer-celebrations-near-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) [![The finest move-in-ready luxury penthouse in Tenerife: Los Jardines de Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/move-in%20ready%20luxury%20penthouse%20in%20Tenerife%20Abama%20Resort.jpg?width=638&name=move-in%20ready%20luxury%20penthouse%20in%20Tenerife%20Abama%20Resort.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/the-finest-move-in-ready-luxury-penthouse-in-tenerife-los-jardines-de-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 22/05/2026 [The finest move-in-ready luxury penthouse in Tenerife: Los Jardines de Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/the-finest-move-in-ready-luxury-penthouse-in-tenerife-los-jardines-de-abama?hsLang=en) #### Abama Resort Brochure 2019 Get your copy of the latest Abama Resort brochure today.
