The first edition of the Tenerife Golf Cup was one such occasion. From April 22nd to 24th we opened our doors to the journalists, comedians, former professional golfers and actors who participated in two rounds of pairs competition with a single handicap category. The event was organized by Turismo de Tenerife, Deporte & Business, Tenerife Golf, and Abama Golf, in a joint effort to demonstrate the island’s ideal setting for sport and luxury tourism. Some of the participants in this first edition included golf course designer Marco Martín; ex-professional footballers Isidoro San José and Miguel Ángel Mista; journalists Hugo Costa, Carlos García-Hirschfeld, Elena Jiménez (RTVE), Iñaki Cano (RTVE), Jorge Armenteros (COPE), Guillermo Salmerón (Radio Marca) and Marta Calvo (Telemadrid); and bullfighter Pepín Liria. The first round was played under the Fourball Stroke Play scoring system, and the second round as a Tour Scramble Stableford, with the undisputed champions ultimately being Isidro Morales and Saad Azam. Second place went to Guillermo Salmerón and Roberto Jimeno, and third place to Marco Martín and Alexander Grau. After a meal at the Abama Golf Clubhouse came the awards ceremony, during which we were honored to have Abama Golf praised as one of the best golf courses in Spain. Special thanks were extended to Alicia Garrido and Iñigo Aramburu, the directors of Deporte & Business, for their enthusiasm throughout the planning and execution of this golf tournament, which will be back again for a second edition next year. ![torneo-de-golf-abama-tenerife-golf-cup-2](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/torneo-de-golf-abama-tenerife-golf-cup-2.jpg?width=1000&height=750&name=torneo-de-golf-abama-tenerife-golf-cup-2.jpg) ## A social gathering In addition to the sporting competition, guests were able to enjoy the services of Abama Hotels. The players stayed at Las Terrazas de Abama Suites throughout the golf tournament and experienced the quality of its facilities, its calm ambience, and its spectacular views over the golf course and the ocean. The Hotel Tívoli La Caleta and Abama Resort’s Tágara restaurant hosted activities parallel to the tournament, including a live concert with Carolina Salmerón, a performance by the comic Sinacio, and an exquisite outdoor dinner at Tágara. One of the most emotional moments of the event was dedicated to golfer Blanca Fernández Ochoa, who passed away in 2019, as her sister publicly expressed her gratitude for the affection and support demonstrated by the golfing community. The Tenerife Golf Cup was a joy to host, and we look forward to future golf tournament editions in the coming years. We are proud that our extraordinary course is supported by world-class hotel and leisure facilities like Las Terrazas de Abama Suites that make ours one of the [best golf resorts](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/visit-the-best-golf-resorts-abama-tenerife?hsLang=en) in the archipelago to hold these events. ##### Published in category [Golf](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/tag/golf) ##### Share this post - [facebook](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-celebrates-the-tenerife-golf-cup-golf-tournament) - [google-plus](https://plus.google.com/share?url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-celebrates-the-tenerife-golf-cup-golf-tournament) - [twitter](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-celebrates-the-tenerife-golf-cup-golf-tournament&text=Abama%20welcomes%20the%20Tenerife%20Golf%20Cup%20golf%20tournament) - [linkedin2](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-celebrates-the-tenerife-golf-cup-golf-tournament) ### Recent posts [![Build a private villa in the Canary Islands’ premier resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/buy-a-plot-of-land-canary-islands%202.jpg?width=638&name=buy-a-plot-of-land-canary-islands%202.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/build-a-private-villa-in-the-canary-islands-premier-resort?hsLang=en) Posted 06/07/2026 [Build a private villa in the Canary Islands’ premier resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/build-a-private-villa-in-the-canary-islands-premier-resort?hsLang=en) [![Abama awards nominations 2026](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Abama%20Nominations%202025-1.jpg?width=638&name=Abama%20Nominations%202025-1.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-award-nominations-2026?hsLang=en) Posted 30/06/2026 [Abama Resort Award Nominations 2026](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-award-nominations-2026?hsLang=en) [![enjoy the night sky from your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/see%20astronomical%20phenomena%20this%20summer%20from%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg?width=638&name=see%20astronomical%20phenomena%20this%20summer%20from%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/this-summer-enjoy-the-night-sky-from-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 25/06/2026 [This summer, enjoy the night sky from your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/this-summer-enjoy-the-night-sky-from-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) [![Las unit in Las Atalayas villas Abama Resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/last%20unit%20in%20Las%20Atalayas%20Abama%20Resort.jpg?width=638&name=last%20unit%20in%20Las%20Atalayas%20Abama%20Resort.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/last-unit-in-las-atalayas-buy-a-luxury-villa-in-tenerife?hsLang=en) Posted 16/06/2026 [Last Unit in Las Atalayas: Buy a Luxury Villa in Tenerife](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/last-unit-in-las-atalayas-buy-a-luxury-villa-in-tenerife?hsLang=en) [![Festivals and summer celebrations near your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/romerias%20and%20festivals%20near%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg?width=638&name=romerias%20and%20festivals%20near%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/festivals-and-summer-celebrations-near-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 09/06/2026 [Festivals and summer celebrations near your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/festivals-and-summer-celebrations-near-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) [![The finest move-in-ready luxury penthouse in Tenerife: Los Jardines de Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/move-in%20ready%20luxury%20penthouse%20in%20Tenerife%20Abama%20Resort.jpg?width=638&name=move-in%20ready%20luxury%20penthouse%20in%20Tenerife%20Abama%20Resort.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/the-finest-move-in-ready-luxury-penthouse-in-tenerife-los-jardines-de-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 22/05/2026 [The finest move-in-ready luxury penthouse in Tenerife: Los Jardines de Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/the-finest-move-in-ready-luxury-penthouse-in-tenerife-los-jardines-de-abama?hsLang=en) #### Abama Resort Brochure 2019 Get your copy of the latest Abama Resort brochure today.
