A wonderful weekend of golf, celebrations and community-building was once again capped this year by our charity Gala Dinner, which brought our luxury properties’ residents and friends together in The Ritz-Carlton, Abama’s Mirador Restaurant for a lovely evening of dining and dancing.
Every year the Gala contributes donations to a worthy non-profit organization, and this year the proceeds were destined to the Alda Foundation, which works with people in vulnerable areas of Paraguay. Established in 2003 in Deiá, Mallorca, the Foundation aims to contribute effectively to improving the quality of education and the lives of children, young people and communities in the areas in which it operates.
The President of the Alda Foundation and Arum Group, Jordi Robinat, gave a small presentation thanking the guests for their generous contributions and explaining that thus far, the Alda Foundation’s projects have benefitted 11,935 children, 40 public schools, 4,345 families and 266 young people. Pedro Martín Domínguez, the Mayor of Guía de Isora, welcomed the new residents of our luxury properties and further elaborated that the Foundation is the result of the work of individuals who won’t turn a blind eye to need, no matter how far the distance between Tenerife and Latin America.
Also in attendance at the Gala were the Minister of Urban Planning and Tourism, José Miguel Mesa; representatives of our sponsor, Banca March; and Abama’s General Manager, Domingo del Campo. Mr. del Campo highlighted some of the important progress made in 2015 at Abama as well as detailing some of the new projects on the horizon.
Last but not least, trophies and prizes were presented to the winners of our 2nd annual Abama Owners Cup golf tournament. We hope they’ll return next year for another spirited round of competition with our growing community.
