From every corner of our luxury properties in Tenerife, be it a villa with an infinity pool, a terrace overlooking the golf course or an open-plan apartment on the hill, the Atlantic plays silent protagonist. It defines the pace of our resort and engenders a desire to stay forever. Those who fall in love with Abama do so, in large part, because of its intimate and direct connection with the Big Blue. Here, the ocean is not only contemplated, but experienced. You’ll feel the sand of Abama Beach on your morning walk, share a dinner with friends bathed in its golden sunset reflections, and have some of your best family moments out on the water together. It’s surprising that a place like Playa Abama exists in Tenerife, given the island’s popularity, but it’s true: hidden among banana trees and volcanic cliffs and protected by a natural bay lies a quiet golden beach that’s a jewel for those who find it. Access is easiest through the resort, meaning that few know of it, and you’ll find a gently populated, quiet corner filled with the sound of the waves and the sweet promise of total relaxation. Our connection and the privilege of this incredible gift at our feet are what lies behind all our sustainability initiatives related to the ocean. Whether cleaning up the beaches of Playa San Juan, creating special activities for children at the Abama Kids Camp or taking on ambitious projects like our *Abama Blue Ocean* book, the Atlantic is never far from our hearts and minds. ## A world to explore and protect Beyond bathing and relaxing, the southwest coast of Tenerife is home to one of the best places in Europe to connect with marine life: the Teno-Rasca marine strip between the islands of Tenerife and La Gomera in the Canary Islands. From quite close to Abama you can take an eco boat trip to engage in responsible cetacean watching; your  reward will be seeing the pilot whales and bottlenose dolphins that permanently inhabit this strip of the Atlantic. There are also diving and snorkeling centers that offer trips for all levels, in crystal-clear waters where you’ll see seabeds of incredible biodiversity. This knowledge of the wonders to be explored led us to create *Abama Blue Ocean* in collaboration with some of the experts and scientists who have worked in the area for decades. More than a book, it’s a declaration of love for the ocean and a manifesto to aid in the conservation of this precious environment. Through photographs by the area's leading marine photographers, this volume celebrates the beauty of the ocean and our shared responsibility to preserve it for future generations. Part of the proceeds from the book sales go straight to Asociación Tonina and the Pelagic Life Association, two groups that participated in making the book and who are heavily involved in conservation efforts in Teno-Rasca. *Abama Blue Ocean* was conceived as a collector's piece that introduces readers to the incredible life in the deeper parts of the ocean and the values of our community: serenity, integration with our environment, a commitment to sustainability, and a lifestyle where nature is of the essence. To buy one of Abama Resort's luxury properties in Tenerife is to choose a place where the ocean will mark the seasons, soften your days and remind you that beauty is in the essentials. That's why so many of our owners took copies of *Abama Blue Ocean* back with them to their homes in Northern Europe. They’re a daily reminder that at Abama, living on the Atlantic is a profound experience. Those who discover it rarely want to be far from the ocean again.
