Serene tranquility abounds here in one of the most beautiful enclaves in Tenerife, where the ocean overlooks the island of La Gomera. Yet Abama Resort refuses to isolate itself or make itself oblivious to the culture and dynamism of the island. The local community, culture, and natural environment are, in fact, some of the distinguishing features of the Abama lifestyle. International families blend easily in our residential community with Spanish and Canary Islanders that work in the area, as well as with digital nomads who have been able to link their real estate and business interests thanks to the unique tax advantages of the [Canary Islands Special Economic Zone](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/canary-islands-special-economic-zone-abama-resort?hsLang=en). Today, our 160-hectare resort includes three hotels, The Ritz-Carlton, Abama, Las Terrazas de Abama, and Los Jardines de Abama; world-class restaurants, including the two-Michelin-starred M.B; the incredible Sandára Wellness & Spa; and a secluded beach in a privileged natural setting facing the Atlantic. ## Privacy and security, but open to the island Abama offers privacy at home, with each of our villas and apartments boasting terraces or gardens, some with a private pool. As a gated community, access is controlled by 24-hour security and provides peace of mind for residents, no matter whether they are on the island or far away. Yet the proximity to nearby towns such as Playa de San Juan makes it easy to experience local life as well, and participate in the culture and gastronomic traditions that have made the Canary Islands famous all over the world. Abama also relishes finding ways to support Tenerife businesses, sustainability initiatives, and projects deemed worthwhile by the municipal government. With more than 250 resident families and close to 400 properties sold, Abama is a stable community founded over fifteen years ago. The construction of The Ritz-Carlton, Abama hotel marked the beginning of the development in 2005 and more than €375 million have been invested since then to create an ecosystem of community and sport facilities, villas, apartments and new luxury hotels that bring together residents, locals, and guests. Those who stay at Abama Resort, whether as tourists at its three hotels or owners of its luxury properties for sale, enjoy unparalleled leisure options. The grounds include an 18-hole golf course designed by the legendary Dave Thomas, golf and tennis academies, and a Kids Camp that allows children to reconnect with nature and themselves. Abama’s community model lets social life develop organically through days at the beach or pool, dinners in Michelin-star restaurants, or tennis lessons for neighbors and visitors. Abama’s municipality, Guía de Isora, offers plenty to do as well. Owners of Abama residences can travel to the other coastal beaches besides the one within the resort to immerse themselves in local culture. Or, they can go on an excursion to Mount Teide, try cetacean watching, or visit one of the protected northern forests. With an excellent microclimate that benefits from the trade winds and the Gulf Stream, any time of year makes for a wonderful visit. In a time where many prospective homebuyers seek security and exclusivity, Abama Resort offers both without sacrificing authenticity. Unlike isolated gated residences, Abama has always been interested in integration and being an active part of the community of Guía de Isora. It’s become the top private resort in the Canary Islands because it allows international buyers to enjoy the quality of life for which our country is so famous. ##### Published in category [Properties](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/tag/properties) ##### Share this post - [facebook](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-the-top-private-resort-in-the-canary-islands) - [google-plus](https://plus.google.com/share?url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-the-top-private-resort-in-the-canary-islands) - [twitter](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-the-top-private-resort-in-the-canary-islands&text=Abama%20Resort,%20the%20top%20private%20resort%20in%20the%20Canary%20Islands) - [linkedin2](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-the-top-private-resort-in-the-canary-islands) ### Recent posts [![Build a private villa in the Canary Islands’ premier resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/buy-a-plot-of-land-canary-islands%202.jpg?width=638&name=buy-a-plot-of-land-canary-islands%202.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/build-a-private-villa-in-the-canary-islands-premier-resort?hsLang=en) Posted 06/07/2026 [Build a private villa in the Canary Islands’ premier resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/build-a-private-villa-in-the-canary-islands-premier-resort?hsLang=en) [![Abama awards nominations 2026](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Abama%20Nominations%202025-1.jpg?width=638&name=Abama%20Nominations%202025-1.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-award-nominations-2026?hsLang=en) Posted 30/06/2026 [Abama Resort Award Nominations 2026](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-award-nominations-2026?hsLang=en) [![enjoy the night sky from your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/see%20astronomical%20phenomena%20this%20summer%20from%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg?width=638&name=see%20astronomical%20phenomena%20this%20summer%20from%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/this-summer-enjoy-the-night-sky-from-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 25/06/2026 [This summer, enjoy the night sky from your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/this-summer-enjoy-the-night-sky-from-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) [![Las unit in Las Atalayas villas Abama Resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/last%20unit%20in%20Las%20Atalayas%20Abama%20Resort.jpg?width=638&name=last%20unit%20in%20Las%20Atalayas%20Abama%20Resort.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/last-unit-in-las-atalayas-buy-a-luxury-villa-in-tenerife?hsLang=en) Posted 16/06/2026 [Last Unit in Las Atalayas: Buy a Luxury Villa in Tenerife](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/last-unit-in-las-atalayas-buy-a-luxury-villa-in-tenerife?hsLang=en) [![Festivals and summer celebrations near your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/romerias%20and%20festivals%20near%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg?width=638&name=romerias%20and%20festivals%20near%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/festivals-and-summer-celebrations-near-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 09/06/2026 [Festivals and summer celebrations near your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/festivals-and-summer-celebrations-near-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) [![The finest move-in-ready luxury penthouse in Tenerife: Los Jardines de Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/move-in%20ready%20luxury%20penthouse%20in%20Tenerife%20Abama%20Resort.jpg?width=638&name=move-in%20ready%20luxury%20penthouse%20in%20Tenerife%20Abama%20Resort.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/the-finest-move-in-ready-luxury-penthouse-in-tenerife-los-jardines-de-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 22/05/2026 [The finest move-in-ready luxury penthouse in Tenerife: Los Jardines de Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/the-finest-move-in-ready-luxury-penthouse-in-tenerife-los-jardines-de-abama?hsLang=en) #### Abama Resort Brochure 2019 Get your copy of the latest Abama Resort brochure today.
