On the 29th of November, Abama Resort and Abama Solidaria were honored to host a charity dinner to benefit national NGO Mamás en Acción, whose objective is to ensure no child has to suffer a hospitalization without an adult by their side.
In addition to contributing €2,500 directly to the organization, Abama Solidaria also raised over €13,800 in additional funds from generous personal donations from owners and sponsors who bought tables at the dinner and participated in our charity auction. Our objective was to fundraise so Mamás en Acción can include Tenerife in the list of areas it serves. At present, their only center in the Canary Islands is on Gran Canaria.
The dinner was held at the Atlántico restaurant in the Abama Golf Clubhouse and was the first opportunity for new chef Carlos Dapena to shine. He prepared an exquisite tasting menu with the best of the restaurant's dishes.
Once again, we were touched by the outpouring of support from our owners, collaborators, and friends of the resort in their willingness to contribute to the causes of Abama Solidaria. Mamás en Acción
The NGO Mamás en Acción is a volunteer organization that works 24 hours a day, in shifts, to remain by the side of children with serious illnesses who, for various reasons, are unaccompanied in the hospital: these include victims of abuse; children whose parents' work is the sole support for the rest of their family; or wards of the State.
Under the motto “No child alone,” Mamás en Acción operates in 16 hospitals in various Spanish cities and, little by little, is expanding its work to the whole country. We hope that very soon they will be able to begin their extraordinary work on the island of Tenerife.
