From February 2nd to 16th, our courts will host two ATP Challenger 75 tournaments featuring up-and-comers whose wins will allow them to move up in the world rankings. The competitions, organized by MEF Tennis Events and the Canary Islands Tennis Federation, are gaining more and more international renown, and tend to boost tourism on the island in the winter season. New in 2025 are cash prizes of $100,000 for each tournament and special access for members of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation and players from clubs in the Canary Islands, who get a 50% discount on tickets and monthly packages. In addition, they’ll be bringing back popular offers like the Kids Days for children. ## Top-tier tennis since 2020 With an exceptional climate year-round, Tenerife is an ideal place for outdoor sports. At Abama, views of the Atlantic Ocean with the island of La Gomera on the horizon provide an exceptional backdrop for our seven tennis courts during the ATP Tenerife Challenger. Our Flexi®-Pave surfaces, like those used in the U.S. and Australian Opens, and the center’s good lighting and comfortable facilities, make it ideal for major championships. We’ve been honored to host ITF matches as well as a WTA 250 tournament, the latter being named the best world tournament of its category in 2021. At the end of 2020, despite the continuing pandemic, MEF Tennis decided to make a bold move and take the opportunity to bring the highest levels of tennis to the Canary Islands. According to Marcello Marchesini, co-founder of MEF, “I can now proudly say that this idea was a success. Over five years, we have organized, thanks to the support of the local government and particularly Tenerife Tourism and the Canary Islands Government, 12 ATP Challenger tournaments in the archipelago and one WTA 250. Now our main objectives are to help the RFET, and in particular the FCT, to quickly develop new local talent who, thanks to invitations to participate in these tournaments, will be able to take their first steps into professional tennis.” Along these same lines, the Abama Tennis Academy has committed itself to training athletes of all levels at its school, open now to the public, and we will continue to improve our facilities to keep the ATP Tenerife Challenger coming back year after year. ##### Published in category [News](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/tag/news) ##### Share this post - [facebook](http://www.facebook.com/share.php?u=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-tennis-welcomes-back-the-atp-tenerife-challengers) - [google-plus](https://plus.google.com/share?url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-tennis-welcomes-back-the-atp-tenerife-challengers) - [twitter](https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-tennis-welcomes-back-the-atp-tenerife-challengers&text=Abama%20Tennis%20welcomes%20back%20the%20ATP%20Tenerife%20Challengers) - [linkedin2](http://www.linkedin.com/shareArticle?mini=true&url=https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-tennis-welcomes-back-the-atp-tenerife-challengers) ### Recent posts [![Build a private villa in the Canary Islands’ premier resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/buy-a-plot-of-land-canary-islands%202.jpg?width=638&name=buy-a-plot-of-land-canary-islands%202.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/build-a-private-villa-in-the-canary-islands-premier-resort?hsLang=en) Posted 06/07/2026 [Build a private villa in the Canary Islands’ premier resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/build-a-private-villa-in-the-canary-islands-premier-resort?hsLang=en) [![Abama awards nominations 2026](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Abama%20Nominations%202025-1.jpg?width=638&name=Abama%20Nominations%202025-1.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-award-nominations-2026?hsLang=en) Posted 30/06/2026 [Abama Resort Award Nominations 2026](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/abama-resort-award-nominations-2026?hsLang=en) [![enjoy the night sky from your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/see%20astronomical%20phenomena%20this%20summer%20from%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg?width=638&name=see%20astronomical%20phenomena%20this%20summer%20from%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/this-summer-enjoy-the-night-sky-from-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 25/06/2026 [This summer, enjoy the night sky from your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/this-summer-enjoy-the-night-sky-from-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) [![Las unit in Las Atalayas villas Abama Resort](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/last%20unit%20in%20Las%20Atalayas%20Abama%20Resort.jpg?width=638&name=last%20unit%20in%20Las%20Atalayas%20Abama%20Resort.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/last-unit-in-las-atalayas-buy-a-luxury-villa-in-tenerife?hsLang=en) Posted 16/06/2026 [Last Unit in Las Atalayas: Buy a Luxury Villa in Tenerife](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/last-unit-in-las-atalayas-buy-a-luxury-villa-in-tenerife?hsLang=en) [![Festivals and summer celebrations near your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/romerias%20and%20festivals%20near%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg?width=638&name=romerias%20and%20festivals%20near%20your%20home%20at%20Abama.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/festivals-and-summer-celebrations-near-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 09/06/2026 [Festivals and summer celebrations near your home at Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/festivals-and-summer-celebrations-near-your-home-at-abama?hsLang=en) [![The finest move-in-ready luxury penthouse in Tenerife: Los Jardines de Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/hs-fs/hubfs/move-in%20ready%20luxury%20penthouse%20in%20Tenerife%20Abama%20Resort.jpg?width=638&name=move-in%20ready%20luxury%20penthouse%20in%20Tenerife%20Abama%20Resort.jpg)](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/the-finest-move-in-ready-luxury-penthouse-in-tenerife-los-jardines-de-abama?hsLang=en) Posted 22/05/2026 [The finest move-in-ready luxury penthouse in Tenerife: Los Jardines de Abama](https://blog.abamahotelresort.com/the-finest-move-in-ready-luxury-penthouse-in-tenerife-los-jardines-de-abama?hsLang=en) #### Abama Resort Brochure 2019 Get your copy of the latest Abama Resort brochure today.
