Imagine leaving the winter cold behind and bidding farewell to 2019 in paradise, surrounded by banana plantations, the green of our golf course, and the incredible blue of the ocean. Just a few weeks after the most recent edition of our celebrated Owners’ Cup, New Year’s Eve at Abama presents a new opportunity to celebrate the privileges of being part of our community. In the warmth of our eternal spring, our resort comes alive during the holidays. If you’re planning to enjoy your Christmas season here this year, don’t miss a morsel of the special menu being prepared by Melvin restaurant for New Year’s Eve. And the Abama Kids’ Camp has a wonderful evening of activities available for children until 23h on the 31st of December as well.
If you so desire, you can choose to enjoy New Year’s Eve at Abama, dining by candlelight at the impressive Las Terrazas complex in one of the three Martin Berasategui establishments within the resort grounds. With marvelous views of the Atlantic and the island of La Gomera, Melvin is headed by chef Diego Dato, who is preparing a special menu for the occasion including an assortment of appetizers, six dishes, and dessert, with wine pairings developed especially for the occasion by our house sommelier, Jaime Pozuelo.
The New Year’s Eve menu begins with an assortment of butters and dipping oils designed to bring out all the subtle flavors of the slow-fermented sourdough breads that are a house specialty. The meal continues with oysters and cauliflower purée and Kir Royal, beef tataki with mushroom sauce, an herb and truffle mustard ice cream, squid stew, and a risotto with Espelette pepper.
The meal doesn’t end there, though. The starters are followed by a free-range egg yolk with an herb sauce and bacon, beet shavings, cheese, and grated black truffle. The fish dish is a grilled bass with clams in a green sauce and horseradish foam, while the meat is a lamb shoulder with citrus gnocchi and rocket sauce. Last but not least, dessert: a pistachio souffle with caramel ice cream.
To round off this evening of leisure and enjoy New Year’s Eve at Abama to the fullest, owners and guests who come to this special dinner will be able to count on the Abama Kids’ Camp to entertain their little ones during the last hours of 2019, until 23h. Once the clock has chimed to ring in 2020, the party will continue with a DJ and dancing. The bar will open as well, so that you can combine your evening of merriment with premium liquors, champagnes, and wine.
The price for the New Year’s Eve menu at Martín Berasategui’s Melvin, which includes the dinner, the wine pairings, and the after-party, is €235. If you find yourself being seduced by the idea of bidding farewell to 2019 in the privileged surroundings of Las Terrazas, book your table and look forward to this wonderful evening.
