For the first time, the professional Abama Tennis Academy has opened its doors to the public, welcoming adults and children from the island looking to improve their game. These new lesson hours, which began in October, have been a great success, and Abama Tennis is happy to already report an enrollment of 30 children between 6 and 8 years of age who have been divided into various groups. Some of their parents have also been inspired to register, and the Abama Tennis Academy is moving into a new era.
Joaquín Pérez Martos, the Head Coach of the Abama Tennis Academy, explains that the aim is to consolidate a professional school over the next two to three years. Currently, instructors are dedicating three afternoons per week to these classes, with the objective of expanding them to five afternoons per week over the coming months.
The regular activities of the Tennis Academy will continue. These include personal training sessions for hotel guests and owners who want to improve or who are just beginning. In addition, Abama Tennis has expanded its agreements with tour operators to offer intensive tennis programs to tourists seeking a customised sport plan with discounted accommodation packages.
The Abama Tennis Academy also developed a new collaboration with the Abama Kids Camp this year, offering a Kids Summer Tennis Camp for children over 8 years old. Participants were enthusiastic about this addition to the programming that allowed them to work with professional tennis instructors for 3 hours of their camp day.
With its 7 tennis courts and 4 paddle courts, the Abama Tennis Center is the largest facility on the island. If you're looking for the top Tenerife tennis experience during your visit, at Abama you'll find a space that has hosted ATP Challenger tournaments and boasts an extraordinary team of coaches that can give you your first intro to the game or help experienced players perfect their skills.
