Henri Leconte Tournament in Luxembourg

Abama’s love of golf isn’t just local. We frequently travel abroad to sponsor tournaments at some of the best venues in continental Europe, where we can exchange knowledge with other great destinations in the sector and meet our current and future owners on their home turf.

In September of 2021 we visited Kikuoka Country Club in Luxembourg for a charity event organized by former tennis pro Henri Leconte. Kikuoka is a wonderful golf venue and the site of numerous tournaments in which we have participated in the past. It hosted the European PGA Challenge Tour for five straight years, and is characterized by perfectly kept greens ensconced in a wooded countryside. Located just 15 minutes from the capital, it’s a tranquil place for a lovely escape.

Henri Leconte was ranked World No. 5 at the height of his tennis career, which spanned a period from the eighties to the early nineties that saw him competing with some of history’s greatest players. Over the past decade, he has channeled his extensive experience in events and PR into his event management company, HL Event, based in Brussels.

We met him on the greens at Kikuoka for the Car Avenue Invitational Golf Cup by Henri Leconte & Friends in support of sick children and their families. He and 15 other sports and media personalities teamed with 60 amateur golfers in a four-man scramble tournament whose proceeds went to the Kriibskrank Kanner Foundation. In this first year of the event, which also included an evening cocktail awards ceremony, Henri Leconte and the tournament organizers, Golf Planet Events, were happy to present the Foundation with almost €3,000.

We look forward to the tournament’s second edition – and to some future collaborations of our own here at Abama – in the upcoming year.
