Ladies European Tour: The Top Female Golfers Return to Abama

2025 begins with exciting news for European golf. After ten years away, the prestigious Ladies European Tour (LET) returns to Tenerife, where Abama Golf will host the Tenerife Women’s Open tournament from the 5th to the 8th of June. The best players on the women’s circuit will be showing off their skills at our course, competing for a €500,000 prize pool.

Alexandra Aramas, the CEO of the Ladies European Tour, has announced it, "a privilege to return to Tenerife, a place rich in history and tradition in women's golf. The island's connection with the LET has been key in promoting golf, and we are thrilled that Abama Golf is hosting a tournament that will undoubtedly be highlighted on every player’s calendar."

Turismo de Tenerife has been instrumental in bringing this edition of the LET to the archipelago, as part of its ongoing commitment to promoting the island through sport, and particularly golf. Tenerife has long been a reference point as a destination that combines exceptional hotel services, an extraordinary climate for year-round golfing, and unique landscapes. Abama Golf, a finalist in the 2024 World Travel Awards for Best Golf Course in Spain, is honored to be part of this event.

A Long-Standing Partnership Since 2002

The connection between Tenerife and the Ladies European Tour dates back to 2002, when the Tenerife Ladies Open was first held on the island. The event was repeated annually until 2011. In 2012, the Tenerife Open de España Femenino made its way to Tenerife, though the tournament was discontinued in 2014. We are delighted to see the return of prestige-level golfing to the island, which has given us many unforgettable sporting moments, including victories by Raquel Carriedo (2002), Elizabeth Esterl (2003), Diana Luna (2004), Trish Johnson’s triumph in 2010, and the exciting playoff that crowned Australian Stacey Keating in 2012.

This year, we can expect to see top golfers like Thailand's Trichat Cheenglab, Britain's Alice Hewson, Spain’s María Hernández, and Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley, among other stars. The tournament will feature three hours of live television coverage each day, broadcast to 87 countries and up to 144 million households worldwide. This level of global exposure emphasises the international significance of the Ladies European Tour and we're looking forward to supporting it on one of Europe's best golf courses.
