If you’ve had the pleasure of playing a round at Abama, or the privilege of owning a front-line golf property in our resort on Tenerife, perhaps it won’t surprise you to hear that others consider our Dave Thomas course to be among the best golf courses in Spain. Combining meticulous design and unusual terrain with views that will drive you to distraction, our course is unique.
Nonetheless, it’s always nice to hear that others share your opinion. This month the prestigious European site leadingcourses.com has published its new yearly rankings and has placed Abama at the top of the list of golf resorts in the Canary Islands, 3rd in Spain, and 21st overall in Europe. We are especially proud of the fact that these rankings are based on user ratings and reviews, and therefore an indicator of Abama Golf’s widespread appeal.
We will continue to do our best to ensure that players have an unforgettable experience on our course, and also to perpetually improve in every other respect so we can remain one of the best golf courses in Spain. Like the rest of the resort, Abama Golf is laser-focused on consistency and quality.
We have also made sustainability one of our top priorities. We were proud to receive, at the end of 2017, the first EMAS certificate of any course on the island. EMAS stands for Eco-Management and Audit Scheme, and it is an EU invention that allows organizations to better their environmental performance and achieve recognition for having done so. A certificate requires the maintenance of an effective environmental management system (EMS) that ensures that an environmental policy is in place on the course, and that objectives, targets and programs have been set or created to improve environmental performance.
Abama has also been recognized as one of the best golf courses in Spain by the publication Golf Digest for the third time, conferring critical as well as popular acclaim. They also consider us among the best golf resorts in Europe, a title that we will continue to uphold with pride.
