The warm Tenerifan climate and its heavenly beaches, so easily accessible from the residential **properties at Abama**, make this island a perfect place not only to visit on holiday, but to enjoy 365 days a year. Yet because both residents and tourists have a weakness for the summertime, we must remind ourselves that not everything about the warmer months is good for us. Caustic agents like UV rays, chlorine and salt are aggressors against which we must defend our skin and protect it from within. And what better way to do that than with some delicious, refreshing juices?  ### Banana, avocado and grapefruit juice Banana, avocado and grapefruit are three great sources of vitamin C, sodium and potassium, making them wonderful allies in giving your skin a beautiful, healthy glow. Banana also contains antioxidants and manganese, which protect your body from free radicals, keeping your skin hydrated and looking younger. Avocado, on the other hand, helps skin to produce more collagen and is rich in vitamin A (known for its antioxidant effects), vitamin E (which prevents premature aging), and vitamin D, which minimises the effects of skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. You can eat them separately, of course, but if you combine them in one of these delicious and refreshing juice recipes, you’ll give your skin that extra push it needs to stay radiant. ### Fig and orange or lemon juice The fig, or “higo pico” to Tenerife locals, is one of the most nutrient-rich and healthy fruits out there. It contains a large number of antioxidants that help to slow the effects of free radicals, preventing premature aging of the skin. This, together with high levels of polyphenols, iron, potassium, calcium, vitamin C and proteins, makes figs one of the ideal fruits to use in preparing delicious juices that nourish skin from within and prepare it to face the heat of the summer and the secondary effects of sun exposure. The juice of 100% natural pressed figs has a slightly sweet taste, like that of the fruit, with a fresh, natural aroma that you can combine with a citrus like orange or lemon to get an extra dose of energy and vitamins. ### Avocado, honey and lemon juice As we explained at the beginning of this post, avocado has tremendous beneficial properties for your skin, similar to those of banana. But what happens when we bring it together with honey and lemon? The oil from the avocado, together with the citric acid and honey, helps to regulate water retention, reduce tissue inflammation and also improve liver function. And if we add a glass of cold water, we optimize its detoxifying powers. And what does all this have to do with our skin? Much more than you would think, since this internal regulation and optimization has direct effects on the state of your epidermis. And thanks to choosing this healthy elixir, your skin will be more radiant than ever. ### Mango and orange or mandarin juice Mango is a delicious fruit that is widely available in local Canary Island markets, so it won’t be difficult to find near your luxury property at Abama. You should use it all, since it has a high amount of iron, proteins and minerals like calcium, fibre, phosphorus, sodium, potassium, iodine, zinc, and magnesium. With regard to minerals, the potassium and magnesium contained in papaya eliminate dead skin cells and keep your skin hydrated, soft, beautiful and tight. That’s why so many cosmetic creams use this fruit as a base.
